Choosing the correct type of material for punches and dies is of paramount importance. Our formula for success begins firstly with the use of the finest grade tools steels produced to our own specifications - Holland PharmaGrade™ (HPG). For more information, view our Pharmagrade™ steels leaflet in PDF format (610KB).
Developed using extensive trials under laboratory conditions, these steels are refined to remove non-metallic inclusions ensuring a very homogenous and clean structure. Chemical elements such as carbon, chromium and vanadium are controlled to strict tolerance levels and contain properties such as wear resistance, toughness, corrosion resistance and compression strength.
Our high quality steels, combined with our fluidised bed heat treatment process ensures that all I Holland tooling is produced to a consistent standard.
HPG-S (Holland PharmaGrade™ - Standard)
A general application steel for punches only, which has excellent toughness
properties with good wear resistance.
HPG-P (Holland PharmaGrade™ - Premium)
A high carbon/chrome steel with excellent wear resistant properties. Used
for all standard dies and for punches where the granule to be compressed is
abrasive.
STAINLESS STEEL (Holland Stainless Grade)
Used for tooling where products are corrosive, this steel has a high chromium
content.
SPECIAL GRADES & PM STEELS
A selection of special alloys using powder metallurgy for specific applications.
